MAYOR BIAZON CHAMPIONS SUPPORT GROUP FOR PARENTS OF CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES

In a heart-warming display of support for families raising children with disabilities, the Muntinlupa City Government has established a dedicated support group for parents. This monthly gathering provides a safe space for parents to share their experiences, gain insights, and find encouragement from one another.

For Jhen, a mother of a child with special needs, the support group has been a lifeline. "Nakatagpo kami ng bagong pamilyang makakatulong sa aming mga anak." (We've found a new family here who understands and supports our journey), she expressed with gratitude. “The sharing sessions with fellow parents are a source of inspiration and practical ideas for our children."

Dan, another parent, echoed Jhen's sentiments. "Napakalaking relief para sa aming mag-asawa, at sa mga tulad kong magulang kasi sa pamamagitan nito, nailalabas namin ang matagal na naming kinikimkim na pagsubok sa aming pamilya.” (This support group has been a tremendous relief for my wife and me. It allows us to open up about the challenges we face and find solace in knowing we're not alone.)

The support group is an extension of Project AGAP (Agarang Gabay at Alalay na Pambata), a pioneering initiative of Mayor Ruffy Biazon aimed at the early detection and intervention of developmental delays in children. Through Project AGAP, children with special needs receive free assessments and therapy sessions conducted by developmental-behavioral pediatricians, ensuring timely support and care.

The establishment of the support group further underscores Muntinlupa City's commitment to fostering an inclusive community that embraces and supports all its members, regardless of their abilities.

"This initiative highlights our unwavering dedication to the well-being of every family in Muntinlupa," Mayor Biazon stated. "We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive, and we are committed to providing the resources and support they need to reach their full potential."

The support group has already made a profound impact on the lives of participating parents, offering a much-needed sense of community and empowerment. As Jhen aptly put it, "This program has given us hope and strength to continue advocating for our children."

The Muntinlupa City Government is committed to providing its residents with a high quality of life, ensuring their safety, well-being, and progress. Through various initiatives and programs, the city strives to create an inclusive and sustainable community where everyone can thrive.
